After reading in the March issue of METRO about another print buffer with 256K for about the same price I felt like I missed out. I just received my new PARALLEL PRINTER 64K BUFFER and boy do I love it. I wish I had sent for it a year or two ago. After reading in the March issue of METRO about another print buffer with 256K for about the same price I felt like I missed out. HOWEVER I called the other company up and they sent me their operation manual and I did get the better print buffer after all.

My PB-64 Printer Buffer has a "Copy" feature that allows you to print up to 255 copies of the same document and a "ByPass" feature that allows you to interrupt the buffer for an emergency printout. The front panel indicators tell you how much buffer space is still available. The input and output sockets are female centronics/parallel. I purchased my `Centronics' M/M 10 foot cable from Micro Connection on 84th Street in Omaha for $11. This cable is not a flat ribbon cable but round and easily handled.

Why would YOU need a Printer Buffer? If you have occasion to print any-
thing that requires more than 10 to 20 copies of the same file. Whenever I print up my membership list or my list of ADAM/ColecoVision instructions for sale I had to count each copy and I never did remember just how many copies I had already printed because of interruptions, telephone calls etc. Now after I `INSERT' the correct number of Character Returns to enable the Tractor Feed paper to completely advance; to the next page, the rest is easy.

To start the Print Buffer MUST be on at all times that you will use your printer. IF you have the `Correct Spacing' to allow a complete tractor feed sheet of paper OR Index Cards; (I use many of these also), Push the COPY START /END button once. Print out your first file (1 to 10 pages long) then push the PLUS button for the amount of extra copies that you want. Example for a total of 10 copies push it 9 times THEN push the START/END button once more to start the printing process. Your ADAM is completely FREE to do anything you want including turning it off. It's no longer needed for this job.

I paid $110 plus postage from ADAM's House, Route 2, Box 2756, 1829 1 Country Road 130, Pearland, TX 77581 (713) 482-5040. He also has another model that allows you to use either 2 ADAMS and 1 printer OR 2 PRINTERS and 1 ADAM for around $130.

The BEST buy I found is from LYBEN COMPUTER SYSTEMS, 1050 E. Maple Road, Troy, MI 48083 (313) 589-3440 page 144 for $100. Please send for their FREE catalog, they have LOTS of GOOD prices and many items that you can use. See my newsletter #34. Tell them that you saw it here from me and OAUC.

Oh yes I choose the Form Feed Disable feature so that the printer will NOT give a form feed and you will have the data consecutively printed WITHOUT Blank Sheets in-between each copy. The small plastic jumper had to be removed and repositioned to connect the 1 and 2 pins.

My Printer Buffer came with 36 pins connections (centronics) while the `other' one has a standard 25-pin connectors on all ports. Their 36-pin adapter for the parallel port sells for $8. Their 36-25 pin printer cable (6 feet) sells for $7. Their model is BF3+ and sells for $80. HOWEVER their Copy Mode is thus:

If it is desired to make multiple copies of a document, use the following procedure: (Repeat procedure for EACH additional copy). 1. Reset the BF Buffer. 2 Send document into the buffer. 3 After the printer is finished printing the first copy, push the reset switch momentarily twice WITHIN 1 second. 4. The unit will now send the entire document again to the printer. (This is a waste as my ideas of a Print Buffer is to free you from pushing buttons for each copy. Thats what I WAS doing & getting tired of it.)
