kids, it's here! THE annual event that almost rivals adamcon itself. :)
it's the ann 1996 christams card. many, many adamites contributed this year
and it really looks terrific! ron mitchell sat down and put it all
together with some wonderful midi music in the background. you'll find it
in C1: (that's the ANN section, folks) as XMAS96.LBR. it's an .IMG file
living in a liabrary (along with a christmas poem from the mighty mitchel
his ownself!) so you'll have to yank it out of the library, then clone it
over to a fresh disk. you'll need to load smartbasic 1.0 first (remember,
1.0 only!!) then put in the xmas disk and type RUN HELLO. then sit back
and be entertained......

DID rain and freeze on top of that. the result was downed power lines so
there was no power here for about 30 hours. (we stayed here overnite. we

times per winter, that don't bother me, what gets me is if I get a HARD,

affect nothing, but the freezing rain, backed with snow, almost always
spells trouble for me and ofcourse I put mine ON THE ROOF to avoid

No, not at all. It seems that with most of the problems and difficulties I
had on my plate in Ottawa now gone, I'm getting quite adept at
manufacturing something else to worry about. None of it is very real of
course, but that doesn't stop me from building a fair file of worries for
myself all the same. I'm one of these 'what-if' types.... what if the
economy colapses? What if the government goes broke and can't pay my
pension? What if..this, what if that. Have to tell myself once in a while
to lighten up.

Your situation 'between jobs' was imposed. Mine is by choice. Yes, there
is a difference. From what you've told me about Linda, she sounds like a
pretty understanding resourceful soul, and the team of "bart and linda"
prevailed.

heh! yup, as long as there is TV all is well. i was worried about my dish
as well. got a big ol' pine tree right above it and when things started
thawing, well snow fell of the branches and ice and i was worried they'd
take out the dish if they hit. had to laugh.....the CABLE went out, but i
wasn't concerned cuz the dish went thru it all.

yeah, it don't happen often out here, but in the last few years, it's
getting more common. the weather forecasters are full of themselves now
and think they can actually predict the weather. hell, these guys can't
predict the RAIN we have 8 months outa the year, let alone snow!

Does cause me to ponder somewhat. We managed to retain power up here,
luckily.... but during the post-mortem that the City of Victoria held
afterwards... (turns out they don't even OWN a snow plough), there was a
bit of a kick at the populus at large, a message to the effect that
because of this sort of thing being possible, and because of the state of
preparedness people are *supposed* to be in for the "BIG" earthquake, we
are supposed to be self-sufficient for 72 hours. Water, food, any
prescriptions we might need, etc. etc.

We most certainly aren't here. Ran out of bread, ran out of milk.
Fortunately there's a little convenience store within walking distance
just down the street, and fortunately for us it was open, because for
about 48 hours we couldn't get the car out of the driveway.

Sort of makes one think.
