Subject: Colecovision power supply saves company!
From: "Chris Knape" <cknape@net-link.net>

I don't contribute much, just watch what's going on on the list,
but I thought some would get a kick out of this.

A woman emailed me after finding information about my Coleco-
vision on the Internet. She said a piece of machinery vital to
her company's business uses a Colecovision power supply and that
the one that had been in use for the past 20 years (I know, I
know) just died. Anyway, her company has been out of business
for two weeks as its searched for the power supply and even
(unsuccessfully) paid a consultant a few grand to figure out what
was wrong and have a new power supply custom built (it didn't
work right)!

I emailed her my phone number and told her I may be able to help.
She was overjoyed, and, resisting the temptation to charge her
an arm and a leg for the thing, overnighted her my last power
supply for a total of $40, including Saturday overnight delivery
service.

The company is based in California and makes optics for micro-
scopes. She said her father, who is now retired, built all the
machinery himself and for whatever reason, picked the Coleco-
vision power supply to handle this important machine.

I've now located the address of the company that was posted on
the list earlier this month and plan to forward it to her for
when she needs back-ups.

Strange how parts of these things turn up in such strange places.

Editor's note: strange indeed, BUT this goes to show that Coleco
did have some good ideas and made some very lasting products!
