README TOO

These are Items from the AUGER newsletter for November '93.
Not very much, right?

It seems that the majority of the items in this issue
originated elsewhere--A.N.N., or in other newsletters.

Neither Faye nor I, wrote many items, although quite a bit
of time went into copying and editing the various articles.

Seems as if what I said, a few years ago when a "national"
newsletter was discussed, has at last come to pass. When no
one picked up on the "national" idea, Barry Wilson came up with
the idea of a monthly gathering of ADAM items from various
sources, and started the ADAM News Network (ANN).

I quite agree that Barry had a good idea and the best
intentions with ANN. However, I could foresee what would
eventually happen, even then. I felt that the ADAMites who, at
that time, were busy writing all of the good items for the
benefit of ADAM users everywhere; would gradually "burn out"
and we would lose their input.

Also, since it was so handy to get information from the
monthly ANN disks, some of the other ADAM people would hesitate
to come up with articles and ideas. Also, the ones who wrote
occasionally for publication, would find it a good excuse to
sit back and "let someone else do it".

So, the inevitable has happened. Thank goodness, that we
still have some ADAM people who still continue to write and
share items of interest with us. And thank goodness for some
people like Guy Cousineau, who worked on the T-DOS system with
Tony Morehen, and has been sharing items on the T-DOS system, and
on EOS programming with us. Also, we are lucky to have others
like Terry Fowler, Pat Herrington, Ron Collins, Jim Poulin, Ron
Mitchell and some of the others whose articles are reprinted
and made available to the various AUGs. Despite this, however,
I have seen a slow decline of ADAM information over the last few
years. Here's hoping that we can continue to come up with new
information, and new enthusiasts, so that AUGs will continue to
be a force to be recognized!
