I highly recommend this program as a most useful and easy to use EOS utility. It's author is a Canadian who has produced a number of exceptional programs for the ADAM computer. Most recently he has written the new operating system for the ADAM, T-DOS, as well as the software to support the hard drives produced by both John Lingrel and Micro-Innovations.\\

BY DAVID COBLEY\w\A\\
One of our members, Francis Naish, recently encountered problems when trying to use a volume of files made on a Megacopy'd Sony HF 60 datapack. His problem involved trying to "read" the directory.\\

\\
\\
\\
\\
He asked our PD Librarian, Michael Lyons to have a look at the datapack, to see if he could determine what was causing the problem. Michael used a Block Reader to take a look at Block #1, and was somewhat surprised to encounter a collection of unanticipated data, fairly obviously imprinted, by the Megacopy process, in that block. Subsequent deletion of this "graffiti" overcame the problem that Francis had been encountering.\\
\\
The text found in this "graffiti", explained, that the person responsible for it's imprinting on the datapack, was of the opinion that the datapack in question had been made by using MEGACOPY, and that, if the owner of the media wished further information, they should contact TriSyd Video Games at their Toronto address, or phone their 416 area code/number. \\
\\
After hearing about this, I used UTILDUMP to "read" both Blocks 0 & 1 of several 256K centre directory datapacks I had previously made using MEGACOPY III. In each case, I found a similar message in both of those blocks. Continuing my examination of my stock of MEGACOPY'ed datapacks, I examined Blocks 0 & 1 of several 2 x 128K CD formatted ones, but the the "graffiti" was not present on any of those. At least, it was not in Blocks 0 &/or 1. I didn't look elsewhere.\\
\\
As far as I could determine, the "formatting" process varied between these two different datapack types, in at least two main areas. One was the so-called "block etching" process that seemed to involve Blocks 64 and 65 of the 2 x 128K CD types, which did not occur on the 256K CD ones. And the other was the deliberate activity of "initializing" Blocks 0 & 1 on the 256K CD types only.\\
\\
I subsequently "formatted" a 256K CD datapack to the point where I was offered a choice of "initializing" "with EOS", or not. At this point, where in the past I had chosen to "initialize" as appears to be the recommendation of the program, I chose option #3, to not "initialize". To my surprise, subsequent examination of the datapack revealed that the "graffiti" was not present in Blocks 0 & 1 of this datapack, which performed quite satisfactorily without it!.\\
\\
I suggest to you, Syd Carter, that your little game of hidden "jeopardy" has been uncovered. What do you have to say to that ?. Should all we users of your MEGACOPY III, start adding up the bill you owe us for subliminal advertising?. Sounds to me like you owe Michael Lyons a beer, and me too, for it was I who bought the Megacopy III, not Michael. But he was the one that did the Dr. Livingstone bit on it.\\
\\
In fact, Syd, me boy, you may owe quite a few beers at ADAMCON 02, once this news get's out. See you there to collect mine. DAVID COBLEY.\\
