(response to a new ADAMite, Will Nerini)

From the Clee's

Welcome back to the Adam world. It's a small one now to be
sure, but just as a fig or pear develops its greatest sweet-
ness as the water dries out so the Adam world seems to
become ever more attractive as it shrinks. Talk to some of
the folks about our Adamcons - and now is not too soon to
start planning to be in Orlando next year (likely around
Columbus Day) for Adamcon 10. Ron Mitchell's posting
alluded to a couple of Adam News Network publications.
As the body dumped with the responsibility for ANN's
occasional publications, I am pleased to report that if you
develop an uncontrollable lust to possess a copy of the
Adam Survival Guide (now a bit dated in its directories, but
otherwise still useful) ANN still has a couple left, and
there is no shortage whatsoever of Guy Cousineau's EOS
Programming Manual. If you need either, holler; the price
is right as ANN charges little more than the cost of
production plus postage.

Separately, I run a submicroscopic hobby business (A.D.A.M.
Services) offering hardware, software and supplies for the
Adam. I still have a fairly large inventory of original
software and licencing agreements with a number of the
producers to keep on issuing their materials - I can even
provide an original, factory-sealed copy of SmartLogo. I
still have some remaining inventory of Micro Innovations
interface cards of various types, and a huge mound of used
Adams and their parts. Also have a lot of Colecovision
cartridge games, the Atari adapter and other special con-
trollers including new unopened roller controllers. I also
carry the fiddly stuff - printer ribbons, printwheels,
datapacks, etc. Likely of more interest to you, I can
sometimes find used copies of books about the Adam. I also
have the technical manual and the set of schematics, still
blurry in places but the original size (about 18 x 24") so
rather more readable than the 8 x 10s most often seen. I
also have a vast collection of Adam newsletters from most
major clubs including the very early stuff. I refuse to
loan them but will make them available for inspection any-
time for those in my area, and anyone desperate enough to
want to pay the cost of photocopying - the word extortion-
ate comes to mind, though the size of the job must be
considered - can have them for the asking. I also offer
small services - I have most of the public domain collect-
ions ever issued, plus the software later released as
freeware. Provided I am given proof of legal purchase I can
restore almost any crashed tape or disc, assuming the fault
is electronic and not mechanical. I generally charge a fee
of $3.00 for my time and trouble, plus the cost of the
medium (where applicable) and shipping. In short, whatever
it takes to keep Adam users going, I try to provide. If
I can't find it new I'll try to find it used, and if that
doesn't work I'll try to find someone who can and refer you
on. So - welcome back. If there's anything you happen to
want or need, drop me an e-mail and (subject to the
situation in my earlier general notice) I'll do my best to
oblige as quickly as possible. Glad to have you aboard.
