ADAMCON 11 - Information Bulletin
No. 1 - November 29, 1998

We have to get some information out on the state of planning for
ADAMCON 11.The organizing committee (all 3 of us at this point)
is aware that people who are going to make the trip to the west
coast need time to plan and make advance arrangements.

I hope to put out regular bulletins on the various items of
business that will go into making 11 successful.

Chief among these items right now is "Where" and "When". At the
banquet in Orlando I said that I would do my best to have those
details pinned down before before Christmas. We're hearing now
that that may not be good enough. Accordingly I'll try to move
up that decision as much as I can. Right at the moment, the comm-
ittee is not in a position to say anything about when and
where the convention will be held, except the following very
general pronouncements:

     1. The dates and location for ADAMCON 11 will be announced
as soon as we have done the necessary homework in terms
of getting as good a rate as we can out here on the west
Coast. We will do all we can to make sure that happens
        as soon as possible.

     2. The price per delegate will be as close to rates for
past ADAMCON's as we can make it.

     3. Place. One of 4 locations are presently under consider-
        ation: Vancouver, Victoria, Seattle, Comox.
We are presently (my son Jeff in Vancouver, Bart in Seattle,
and I on the Island) are looking into possible candidate
hotels. We are getting info on the phone, via the internet,
and any other way we can. When all that data is in we'll
see if possible lower hotel rates on the Vancouver Island
are sufficiently lower to offset the ferry costs and what
additional fares would be applicable for those coming from
the east if a link Vancouver/Victoria or Vancouver/Comox
were to be added to the trip. (Sometimes the extra is
reasonable, sometimes it's not). You might want to get on
the horn to your local travel agent and check this out. If
        you do, let me know.

Note. I apologize for not getting to this sooner. I've had
a rather active October/November with visitors from the
east and a variety of projects here (whine, whine, whine).

     4. The Committee. There's Zonker, there's Bob Slopsema, and
there's me so far. We want some more. About the only
qualification you need to serve on this committee is the
ability to keep a procrastinating chair awake and moving
forward. It might also help if you were on the Internet
so we can talk. If you'd like to be on the ADAMCON 11
committee, Then WE NEED YOU! Let me know.

     5. Those who can give sessions, please give some thought to
what you might like to present. It's early days, but we
need to find out who our instructors are as early as we
        can.

     6. If you have a burning desire to give a housekilling key-
note speech, we'd like to know about that.

     7. If you know how to cook crisp, crisp bacon, we'd like to
        know about that.

     8. For the moment, that's it and that's all. I've got some
info from Herman and Bob Slopsema on the mechanics of
previous ADAMCONS. If we can capitalize on what our
previous mentors did right we might get somewhere.

Meantime, I'm painfully aware at this point that we're going to
ask most of you to come a very long way to attend ADAMCON 11. We
will do our very best to make it worth your while.
